FAQs

What is Activator D?

Activator D the easier, safer, more economical and effective way to treat and maintain the sparkle in your pool!

The product comes in two bottles - a powder and a liquid - totalling 850 grams. This is enough for a 50,000 litre pool for one month. It is safe, environmentally friendly, economical and very effective.

A neglected pool will need a double-dose to start off, but this will effectively kill the algae and clear the water in a few days. Black algae will disappear over a few weeks, and should be brushed off the walls. (Chlorine does not kill algae, only bleaches it; this is why during a storm the chlorine is drawn from the water and the algae is once again visible, turning the water green.)

Activator D does not hurt eyes or skin, and swimming costumes last longer. It is environmentally friendly, non-toxic, non-corrosive and chlorine-free, and pool run-off water should not damage plants.

Does Activator D work for my jacuzzi?

You Bet!

Add just a tablespoon from each bottle of the Activator D, and the water in your jacuzzi or spa bath will turn clear in front of your eyes

How do I use Activator D?

First off, thank you for purchasing Activator D!

      1. Ensure your pool’s pH level is between 6.8 - 7.2
      2. Ensure alkalinity level is between 80-120ppm
      3. Backwash the pool
      4. With the motor running and the valve set in filter
position, empty both bottles of Activator D into the weir.
Do not pour directly into the pool.
      5. Resume the normal pool pump and cleaning cycles.
      6. Watch your pool clarify!

If you have a pool that is used regularly by a lot of people like a hotel or public pool, consider adding a little bit of chlorine to the weir.

For the best results we recommend adding one cup of chlorine to the filter per 3-sand-bag-filter every week. It is important to add the chlorine directly to the weir, to ensure it is properly absorbed in the system.

How do I calculate the volume of my pool?

A useful rule-of-thumb is that most pools will have a volume of roughly 1.5 x their area. This usually accounts for the average of the deep and shallow ends.

  Example

 1. Pace out the length and breadth of your pool

L=8m  B=4m

 2. Multiply the 2 numbers together to get the area

8 x 4 = 32

 3. Multiply the area by 1.5

32 x 1.5 = 48

 4. Multiply the answer by 1000 to get litres

48 000 litres

A pool of roughly 50 000 litres will require one treatment of Activator D each month.

If your pool is approximately 25 000 litres (between 20 000 - 30 000) you will only need to add half of each bottle of the Activator D duo to your pool each month to keep it sparkling clean and algae free.

Does Activator D kill bacteria?

Yes. Activator D does kill bacteria to a certain extent, and under normal conditions. Activator D is sufficient for cleansing the water in your home pool, as well as keeping it free of algae.

However, Activator D does not kill Ecoli (found in human faeces) and we recommend that for extra protection, especially with extensive pool use in "high traffic" pools such as hotels, schools and public swimming baths, a little chlorine should be added to the weir. As well as other anti Bacterial products.

Starting 3 days after adding Activator D, ONCE WEEKLY add one cup of chlorine per 3-bag filter mixed with water into the weir with pump running on "filter". DO NOT sprinkle chlorine directly into pool water - it works through the filters and will not register in pool water.

Can Activator D be used with other chemicals in the pool?

Sure! Unlike some other products which are on the market, Activator D will not react with other chemicals in your pool, so you can use it immediately. When adding chlorine, be sure to mix it with water outside the pool and pour the mixture in the weir.

Does Activator D contain copper?

Activator D contains copper-sulphate amongst other elements to fight a wide variety of bacteria and algae that likes to grow in a pool. When used as directed, Activator D is designed to be completely safe for swimmers and your pool and has been used by public pools, water parks and schools for over 10 years with a crystal clear track record.

Can I use Activator D as a "shock treatment"?

Yes, you can use it with other chemicals to boos your pool's clarity. But you should not exceed the dosage of one set of bottles per 50000L per month
